We arrived in Maun, Botswana last week. We are working with Love Botswana which is an organization that has an international boarding school, church, outreach projects, etc... Yes...it is right in the middle of the desert. This is actually the Africa I was waiting to experience. Even desiring this experience, I am getting a glimpse into why the Israelites were so frustrated with wandering around the desert for 40 years. : )
Our Campsite...my home is the turqoiuse tent straight ahead!
While in Botswana we will be working on a variety of projects. They include prison ministry, abandoned baby nursery, Hut to Hut evangelism, speaking about the World Race at the international school, abstinence classes, and a lot of ATLing (Ask the Lord). This means start the day in prayer committing to listen to what the Lord says and minister to people along your path.
Today we ATLed. The Lord led us down a desert path where we met a man that was walking to work. While walking we were able to minister to him. He told us he was not done having fun in life. Brooke talked to him about how you can still have fun in life as a Christian. After a 4 kilometer journey alongside this man, he decided to accept Jesus Christ as his savior. We pray that the magnitude of this decision penetrates his heart and activates his life.
Along this journey we ended up at a river and small village where we visited with a man and his family. We were able to talk to them about Jesus, prayer, and life. Due to a slight communication barrier we simply spent the afternoon with the family, discussed a few simple things, and were able to pray for them. It was a great afternoon spent loving on people along the journey.
You never know who you will meet along a hot, desert road. We saw only the people we ended up ministering to along the path. I believe the Lord desires for us to pay such close attention to those along the journey of life because He has placed each individual there for a reason. We went 4 kilometers, much longer than anticipated, to speak the truth to our new brother. Sometimes God desires us to be on a particular journey longer than expected to meet the ONE and speak HIS TRUTH!
Looks beautiful there! I hope all is well and that you are finding peace and fulfillment in your work. Praying for you!

The fuuny thing that was said by a child in my life award would have to be given to Asher this week. The theme for summer spectacular was "Northview Jones" (like Indiana Jones, anyways, the theme verse was Job 22:25 i believe, "The God Almighty shall be your treasure." WELL, sunday at Dylan's parent's house, Asher stood up on the chair and proudly pronounced: "I can say my scripture from Northview Jones!" we all listened intently as Asher rattled off: " And Northview Jones shall be your treasure, Job 22:25" We all tried to contain our laughter as to not embarass him, Oh man, it was great.
I miss you so much my dear friend. talk with you soon~!
You look great. I can't tell you how much I love your entries. I'll be the first in line to buy your book!
XOXO!
I hope you know how much everyone looks forward to your blogs. So many people (family & friends) who never comment here-have come up to me or e-mailed me saying, "I love reading about Jessie's adventures-we are so proud of her."
You are being lifted up by many, your work is being prayed for by many, & you are loved by many....but by none more than me. You are my Joy!
I will add the man on the road to my prayer list.....God is Good!
Sorry it has taken awhile for me to get back to you. Lifes pretty busy on my end too. Looks like things are going pretty well for you and that your gonna have lots of stories to tell your kids one day. I know a thing or two about being in the desert, and it can be a beautiful place. I think your desert is a bit of a happier place than mine but probably not by much. Just wanted to say that I appreciated your email and I took it to heart. From one desert to another have fun and be safe.
Peace from the middle east.
